“Wallace With The Snowy Nose”
I live in Pennsylvania. While we don’t get the worst winter weather in the country (I can only think of those poor folks in New England right now) we get our fair share of trying winter conditions. If you have anything that needs to be done outside it takes a fair amount of fortitude to get yourself out there. Whether its driving (a terrifying experience) or barn work (in my case caring for two horses) sometimes one has to just “plow through.” My husband says that to live in this area people have to “have a lot of bark on them.” As in tree bark. Same thing as a tough skin. So I decided I’d showcase Wallace. Obviously “Wallace With The Snowy Nose” spends a fair amount of time out in the elements. Although he’s all dressed up with some place to go he still can’t erase all the evidence of his true nature. At this time of year those of us who must deal with winter weather can hope a little of Wallace can be with us all.
“The Woodworker”
He’s “The Woodworker”… and he’s a natural.
Beavers are extraordinary creatures. They mate for life; they are brilliant architects; and both the male and female share the raising of their young. Unfortunately, they are targeted and brutally trapped for their fur and a substance from their oil glands which is used in perfume.
The fellow above is in his favorite place. It’s where he feels at home and safe. On this warm, sunny morning he chooses to use tools other than his teeth.
“Dark Longing”
So I LOVE crows and ravens. Forget the stereotype of being a harbinger of bad luck or doom. They are extremely intelligent beings and I think they are even more sentient than we know. Have you ever listened to crows communicating back and forth? If you live in a rural area as I do, its a very common occurrence, especially in the morning. It’s fascinating. You can tell there is a very complex and real conversation occurring. There’s so much we don’t know about the other inhabitants of our planet.
Keeping with a Halloween theme, here is my “Dark Longing” print. I adore how this turned out. It’s so gothic and romantic. I’m a Jane Eyre fan so gothic romance is one of my favorite reads. Of course this being the Halloween season, it can take on a creepy air, I guess. Whichever way you see it, her dignity can’t be ignored!
